We are in the mood for events, so for our first event in the new location we wanted to start with something special. We have managed to bring the new graphic novel “Henrietta Lacks” written by Clémentine B. a teenager herself, and Martina Aranda, who also illustrates the book. And for once, this is an event mostly for teens and parents (or just adults, don’t need to be a parent to enjoy it). The presentation will take place in Bimbi Books next Friday evening, please reserve via email if you can, but I think there will be room for everybody, this space is bigger! The book, based on a true story, is published in French by CotCotCot an independent publishing house from Brussels. The presentation will be in French but for the discussion and questions all languages are welcome. The presentation will be followed by some book signatures and there will be some original illustrations exposed as well.
Do you already know what happened to Henrietta Lacks? She was an Afro-american woman with a uterus cancer, and they extracted her cells for research that actually helped to making better treatments and vaccines. But it was without her consent. Come next Friday and learn more about this.
